Happy birthday!! Two years ago today your mom and dad’s lives changed forever. In the last year you have continued to bring us tons of love and joy and kept us on our toes the entire time. You are not afraid of much and you like to show that lack of fear to as many people as possible. From jumping of the tallest plyo box to climbing anything that will hold still, you enjoy challenging any and all boundaries and don’t have much regard for the end result. Although it scares us to death at times, I’m so proud to have a boy that isn’t afraid to take one on the chin. You are also extremely determined even when it comes to the smallest of task. Never, ever lose that.
You say please and thank you for everything and we are making progress and on “yes sir” and “yes ma’am” (dang Texans). You are a happy morning person and the pair of us being so chipper so early in the morning drives your mom crazy!! She does, however, love how often you end up in our bed by daylight. You have learned to sing “All my lovin” by the Beatles, Jesus Loves Me and the B-I-B-L-E song. We are still working on Tulsa Time and a couple of other Boland tunes. You started pre-school not too long ago and you love your teacher, Mrs. Tara. One of the highlights of my week is going to pick you up from school every Monday and Wednesday. You still love to dance although your skills seem to have come from your mom. Fair warning: unless your skills get better, it will only be cute for a few more years ☺ You love wearing my boots around the house even though the tops come all the way up to your diaper. From time to time you will even wear your moms heels. Dude, no more…you’re seriously making your dad nervous. In the last year you’ve learned how to do slide board mountain climbers, tin soldier and bodyweight squats completely unprompted. You also seem to enjoy foam rolling although everyone else seems to hate it.
There are times when I can’t wait for you to get a little older so that we can go build something together or throw a few loops. Most of the time I want to you to stay this age because you are so happy and hilarious, especially when you get wound up.
As you go throughout life many things, both good and bad, will come your way. Handle each of them will class and integrity. Always finish what you started, even if you hate it. Don’t lie, don’t cheat, don’t steal. Don’t wine, don’t complain, don’t make excuses. Think good thoughts and say good things, even when you don’t want to. Don’t hold grudges, it will only harden your heart. Stand up for what you know is right, even if it’s not popular. Don’t sugarcoat anything—tell it like it is. Go out of your way to be nice to people. Go out of your way to help those who can’t possibly help you back. Work as hard as you possibly can at whatever you do regardless of whether you want to or not. Surround yourself with like-minded, positive people. Make each day your masterpiece. Embrace the struggles that life presents. The successes will be that much sweeter. Above all else, know and love God. Talk to Him as much as possible. Know that He is driving. Because of this go through life with no fear.
I’m definitely kicking your tail out of the house as soon as you graduate high school but you will always have a place to go when you are in trouble. I love you more than you will ever know. Happy Birthday Bubba!!
